Personality: DJ is a very hyper active person; he is always doing something. The only times he is ever still is when he is sleeping. He has such an over active mind. He is a very loyal and noble person. He believes in honesty above all else, but he isn't naive enough to think everyone else feels the same way he does. He is generous. He donates what free time he has to a free martial arts class at the local high school. He enjoys helping the younger generation to realize what they are capable of.
When he was younger he had a bit of a temper problem, but his own training his martial arts helped him to focus his energy and his anger into something else. He is a very mellow type of person these days; he has a remarkable control of his temper. He has never been the type of guy who likes to party. He doesn't like to drink, because he has seen what it can do to people. His idea of fun is going white-water rafting or mountain climbing. Activity is what makes him the most happy.
He is very protective of the people around him. His three daughters and his wife are his whole life, and he would do just about anything for them. He spoils them something awful, but he does make them take the martial arts classes. He is paranoid about them getting hurt or taken like some of the other cases he has seen.
History: DJ was born in Cairo, Egypt where his father was currently stationed. His father was a general in the US Army, and his mother was a stay at home wife. They moved wherever he was stationed, but when DJ was two years old his father retired from the Military and moved the family back to the United States. His two older siblings were already in school, but DJ wasn't really effected by the move. Their father took a job in a small town as a security guard at a local resort. As DJ grew up he came to hate the small town life; he felt that it was so boring. He never was good at making friends, and neither of his siblings would ever play with him. So, most of his childhood was spent reading detective novels at the park.
His father never supported his son's fascination with reading, and his tendency to prefer solo activities. He wanted both of his sons and his daughter to play school sports and be active in the community, but that just wasn't DJ's style. His older siblings on the other hand were his father's dream children. DJ was always closer to his mother, because she at least attempted to understand him. Middle school was much the same for him, but when he got into high school things really began to make a change in his life.
His freshmen year of high school he began to discover that he could be an active person without playing team sports. He took up martial arts and inline skating. He entered many competitions in both sports, and much to his own surprise he won many of those competitions. He also took up White-Water Rafting and Mountain Climbing during his high school years. His mother continued to be the one that supported him in everything he did.
When he graduated from high school DJ moved away from home to attend college. He wound up getting a four year degree in Paralegal Studies, but once he made it through school he realized that he had no desire to be a lawyer, so he joined the Police Academy in New York. He made it through the program and joined the local police department. After only two years on the force he married his partner Jenna and settled down. After only a year of marriage Jenna gave birth to their first daughter; their second child came only two years later and their third was born another three years after that.
DJ spent another twenty years working on the NYPD without much change, but when he was forty-six he lost his partner in a drive by shooting. That was when he and his wife decided to move their family back home. His two older daughters decided to move with them as well, because they wanted the chance to live in such an amazing place. Moving back home changed his mind about small towns; he loved it there now. He moved into his parents' old house, since they had moved into a retirement home in Florida.
Fears: Losing his family, Night Terrors, and Turning into his father.
Desires: Seeing his daughters' dreams come true, Writing his book, and making things right with his father.
One Secret: He was the one who outed his second partner to internal affairs for skimming money out of evidence lock up.
